When the human heart sincerity,
It can drive away the frost,
Can cause battlements to fall,
And penetrate metal and stone.
But if a man lives with deception,
Though his body may be replete in its vanity,
The true master, his soul, will have perished.
When in the company of men, his countenance will be

When by himself, his own form and shadow will be

人間のまごころから発する一念は、夏の夜に
霜を降らし、堅固な城壁を突き崩し、金石
も貫くほどの力をもっている。
いつわりの多い人間は、肉体はそなわっていても
心は失われている。これでは、人にも嫌われるし、
自分でも自己嫌悪に陥るにちがいない。
●「至誠にして動かざる者は、未だこれあらざる
なり」(孟子）ということであろうか。
