Veracity.

Popular songs and glamorous dances.
The person who studies should sweep away externals
And immediately seek what has been there from the
beginning.
Only then will he be able to put this truth to use.

*Rites are something created by vulgar society.
Truth is something received from Heaven; it is
Of-Itself-So, and does not change. Thus, the
sage governs himself according to Heaven, and
respects truth. He is not influenced by the vulgar.

人間の心には、もともとすばらしい文章が刻まれ
妙なる音楽がかなでられている。ところが、せっか
くの文章も知識のガラクタによって封じこめられ、
せっかくの音楽もあやしげな音曲によってかき
消されている。
自分を向上させようと思う者は、いっさいの誘惑
を退け，自分のなかにある本来の文章、本来の
音楽を求めて、その活用をはからなければならない。
●人間はだれでも立派な素質や汚れのない心
をもって生まれてくる。それを伸ばしてやることが
望まれるのだという。
