If others possess wealth, then I possess humanity;
If others possess high status, then I possess justice.
Therefore, the gentleman never forces his thoughts on
others.
If men would be persistent, they could gain mastery of
Heaven.
If they concentrated their wills, they would have command
of their *ch’i.
The gentleman does not accept
the shackles of the created world.
*Note: If men concentrated their will,
they would have more command of their ch’i.
If they concentrated their ch’i, they would

「天地をも動かす」
相手が財産を振りかざしてくれば、こちらは
「仁」で対抗する。 相手が地位を振りか
ざしてくれば、こちらは「義」で対抗する。君子
は、たとい相手が上級者でも、意のままには
動かないものだ。
強い意志と固い覚悟をもって当たれば、天地
でも動かすことができる。これなら、神様でも
邪魔立てできない。
●「断じて行えば、鬼神もこれを避く」（史記）
ということであろう。こういう考え方は、明らかに
道家のそれとは違っている。「仁」と「義」を強調
してる当たり、儒家、とくに孟子の考えかたに近い。
