The mind of the Bodhisattva Vimalakirti is no different
than that of a butcher or executioner.
All places have the capacity for true pleasure;
A house made of gold is no different
than a hut with thatched eaves,
Ah, but desire creeps in and passion envelops,
And that which is right in front of you is mixed and
mistaken,
Causing the tiniest fraction of an inch to become
thousand miles.

ある。立派な邸宅に住もうが粗末なあばら家
に住もうが、その点では、まったく変わりない。
ただ、欲望や感情に心をくらまされて、すぐ近
くにあるものも見えなくなってしまうのだ。
●だれの人生にも、それなりの楽しみがあって
いい。貧しいからといって楽しみの時が持てない
わけではない。心の持ち方ひとつで、いくらでも
楽しい術を見つけることができるのだという。
